1 month.
1 month from today is one of the due dates of Baby Goober. How is it my kids always have multiple due dates? According to the last ultrasound, his due date is May 23. According to calculations, his due date is May 30th. According to the hospital ultrasound I had in the beginning, his arrival date is June 8th. Of course, the midwife likes the later date...I like the earlier date...I'm hoping he'll continue to be as different as his brothers and come EARLY. Nothing about this time around has been anything remotely like the last 3 pregnancies, so maybe this will be the one who comes on his own? Yes? PLEASE?
The Chef and I keep talking about thinks that we're going to do differently this time around. We're attempting to keep him sleeping in his crib, rather than our bed. Seeing as how Cute Boy still spends most nights in our bed at 4...yeah. Spawn was the same way...he was in and out of my bed until about 2.5-3 years old. Sweet Nut was the only one that was consistently in the crib (give or take a few months in a teeny apartment that I had after my ex and I split and I had him in bed with me...for my own comfort-because you know the 10 month old could protect me.) And to this day, Sweet Boy is our best sleeper. He's usually out within seconds of his head hitting his Pillow Pet...that is as long as whichever brother happens to be attempting to go to sleep in the same room leaves him alone. The Chef is still amazed at how you can send the kid to bed and in seconds he's snoring...and yes, Sweet Boy does have a little snore. He got that from my side of the family, poor kid. And he's up bright and early and ready to go. Usually. As for Spawn and Cute Boy, they fight sleep like it's going to hurt them or something...which leads to some really FUN mornings. So I'm hoping that not co-sleeping (even though I *heart* snuggling up with a newborn in bed) as much will lead to a better sleeper...I have the feeling though I should start looking for a queen or king sized bed.
We're also going to attempt breastfeeding again. Never did it with the older 2 boys-my ex was against it. We tried with Cute Boy, but allergies derailed us there. So we'll have to see how long we can go this time.
And we've got the cloth diapers on stand by. We did it with Cute Boy, but we didn't start until he was bigger. These newborn diapers...O.M.G. they are so tiny! We're pretty much a AIO/AI2 and pockets family-the Chef won't use them otherwise...but the ones we have are very daddy friendly. We have some disposable ones too, so we'll be going back and forth.
Let the countdown to Baby Goober's Birthday begin!

Less than 10 weeks?!?
Um...There's less than 10 weeks until Baby Goober makes his appearance. I mean, I want to meet the little guy already, and I am pretty miserable, but we're in the home stretch...Where the heck did the time go?
All of the major stuff has been purchased. I forgot how expensive having a baby is! I have to say, we lucked out with the older goobers. My mom bought a portable crib that I loved, and it lasted until Cute Boy was about a year old. We bought a travel system with Spawn, but hated it, so we sold it after he outgrew it. Got a carseat from my aunt for Sweet Nut and bought a double stroller that I liked, but ended up selling before Cute Boy was born, so I could buy a MacLaren double. Oh how I loved that stroller. But alas, our infant seat expired...the Britax Marathon will be expiring. We sold the stroller. Gave the high chair to the Chef's niece (we might be able to get that back when we are ready for it...but you never know with the Chef's brother...he's a strange one). The crib was demolished, as was the pack and play (thank you goobers!)
So, we bought a real crib. Not a portable one that I always would have trouble finding sheets to fit. A real one, that will turn into a big boy bed.

That's also the crib set that we bought...I wanted monkeys, the Chef and the Goobers wanted sports. We saw this the night we went to order our crib and all loved it.
Then there was the car seat and stroller. I've been looking for MONTHS. I knew what stroller I wanted (Graco Quattro Tour) and I knew I wanted the car seat to go up to at least 30 pounds (because the Goobers all outgrew their seats by 9 months old.) BUT I hated all the patterns. We started looking at Chicco and of course the only one I liked had a 22 lb car seat. The Chef started getting annoyed. He wouldn't even look at the computer screen for longer than a glance if there was a stroller or car seat on the screen. I had pretty much decided to get the Chicco...but then we went to pick up our crib at BRU and I talked him into letting me play with the stroller, since the one on display at Target was tied down. And we had issues with the stroller reopening. Everytime we did it (or the person from BRU) it would sound like something was cracking. And the Chef said he wasn't going to pay $300 for something that sounded like that. So we started playing with the Graco strollers, and low and behold, there was one that I liked. And it worked similar to the Quattro Tour, but was smaller, and the pattern was ok. So we got it...before I could change my mind again.

It's a Graco Stylus Deluxe, and the seat is the Snugride 35. I got home and was looking at it online, and instantly remembered why I kept passing it over. It looks very white. And in my mind-BOY+WHITE=MESS. But it's not that white, it's actually a tan "suede" fabric. So the Chef thought it was funny that I finally decided on one that I kept saying no to online. Really, he's just happy that I'm not spending the 10-30 minutes I stay up after the boys on the computer looking at strollers. Now I'm chilling with him on the couch, and end up falling asleep and drooling on his shoulder. Not sure how it's better, but he's happy, LOL.
So with the major stuff purchased, and put together (I was mean and made the Chef stay up late the other night putting the crib together...The box was huge and it was sitting in my hallway/living room for 20 minutes and I told him he either had to move it to the basement or put it together. Meanwhile, I had told him when we were at the Olive Garden eating dinner that it could wait...eh, it annoyed me. :D But he was a good daddy and did. With the help of 3 helpers...they got it done in about 45 minutes. And I put the stroller together...almost all by myself. The front wheels wouldn't cooperate. :D
It's a waiting game now...I'm waiting for him to decide to flip and get his head down here it's supposed to be, instead of up in my ribs. Currently, according to the last u/s and the last ob visit he's comfortable with his head wedged under my ribs on my right and stretching out to the left. He seems to be still in the same spot, I'm still getting kicked/punched on the left and headbutted on my right. With Cute Boy he was head down by now and kept headbutting my cervix...not that it's a feeling I'd like to experience again (because that HURT) but this isn't incredibly comfy either. My next appointment isn't until 2 weeks from tomorrow...and I'm hoping he'll move...

Third Trimester Already?
I'm still trying to figure out where the time went!
Baby Goober is still a boy. We had an ultrasound last week that confirmed it. The ultrasound also shows that he's measuring 2 weeks ahead, which moves his due date to the end of May. So we figure any time between May 23rd and June 8th we'll be meeting this little guy.
The pregnancy that started our pretty difficult on me and then got a bit easier is taking it's toll on me again. Walking is difficult and at times pretty painful. And my right foot and ankle are pretty swollen. It hurts to put on socks or sneakers.
We can't wait to meet this little guy though!

New Year, New Things!
I love new year. It's just such a fresh start to things sometimes...
Plus, it's also the day that the Spawn turns 8. I'm still trying to figure out where the heck the time went.
Speaking of new things, there's a new goober on the way. We finally feel comfortable enough to announce it. We had a miscarriage at the end of May 2010, that both the Chef and I struggled with. Something that was so unexpected, but so very wanted. But, we are expecting one last goober in the beginning of June of this year. Sweet Nut is so very excited for his early birthday present (since our EDD is exactly one week before his birthday). All 3 of our goobers are hoping to be blessed with a sister, but will also tell you they will take what God has chosen to give them. I think that Spawn got them all saying that.
In other gooberish news:
Spawn has turned 8, and is doing much better in 2nd grade. His teacher is a great fit for him, strict but understanding. He still has some struggles which are normal at his age. He had also stopped going for his biweekly visits with the social worker at school (yay) and only saw her on occasion, but I did get a permission slip for him to join the lunch buddy group that meets every 1-2 weeks. He's come a long way with dealing with his feelings and I know his worker plays a big part in it. He asked to see her, and he'll even tell you that she helps him figure out how to handle things. Ideally, we'd like him not to need her anymore, but we're happy that he has the option there when he needs it.
Sweet Nut is also doing great in school. He's right on track for most things, but is a bit social and a bit silly. Nothing we didn't know before :D He's made quite a few friends, and lost his first tooth finally after it was loose for like 3 weeks. He's working on writing sentences, so there's lots of storytelling at our house.
Cute Boy is doing great as well. We're working on letter recognition, and thanks to big brothers learning to read, he can tell you some letter sounds too. He's also practicing writing letters, and counting. He loves that he's got me to himself a few times a week, and loves that Ma-Ma (my mom) takes him out to lunch every Tuesday. Which also usually includes a trip to the bookstore. Just to show you how much he loves books, he had asked one day after lunch if he could get an ice cream. We told him yes, but then we weren't going to be able to get a book. "Um, that's ok. I want to get my book." So did not expect that out of the 3 year old.

So it's been a few months...
Life has a habit of getting in the way sometimes.
My computer has been out of commission. I need to get some memory cards for it. But money is really tight right now, and I picked up another part time job. I hate being away from my gophers so much, but we need the income.
Speaking of the goobers, they are doing great. The older two are loving school and we're looking at prek options. Not that I want to put him in prek, but we shall see what is in store for us.
Anyways, sorry for the downer post. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Snacktime!
So we had our second Muffin Tin Monday (really Wednesday, because I work on Mondays). The first I didn't get pictures of, but today I did!
We had mango slices, chocolate chip cookies, Toy Story cheese crackers, some fruit salad (melon, pineapple and strawberries) and some dried apples and strawberries.
They gobbled it up in no time, and were thrilled to eat out of their special "dishes" I found pirate and monkey cupcake liners in the grocery store, and picked up the silicone feet cups in Marshalls.

Ready...Set...GO!
So, it's official. I'm a homeschooler!
After lots of praying and debating, we're headed full steam ahead into homeschool for preschool this year. We've decided to use the Letter of the Week program from Confessions of a Homeschooler for the most part, with some Raising Rock Stars Preschool from 1+1+1=1.
I'm in the process right now of going through everything, and figuring our schedule etc. The plan is to start on Tuesday. We're going with a 4 day week (Tuesday - Friday) due to my work schedule.
I'm also making a list of some things I need to pick up while I'm out and about. Like I need an excuse to go to Michaels and shop? :D
I'm getting anxious about the big goobers and school too. They start on Sept 7th, and I still haven't heard whether Sweet Nut is going to AM or PM K, and who the boys got for teachers. I can't go school shopping because, for Spawn anyways, the supply list is teacher specific. I guess I'll be calling the school on Monday morning to see when they are going to inform me of my kids teachers and school info. I'm still waiting to hear when the K bus run and orientation is going to be. It's usually in August.
Sigh. At least I know that Cute Boy is pretty much ready to go. I can't wait to start on Tuesday!
